2008 Truck & Mini Van Rules & Regulations

Full Size Trucks:  Trucks, Full Size Vans, Full Size Blazers and Suburbans. 1/2, 3/4 or 1-ton is allowed. No dual wheels.

Mini Vans:  Mini Vans, Mini Trucks, and Mini Blazers. (i.e. S-10 and S-15)

BASIC MANDATORY RULES:

SAFETY: Seatbelt, helmet, long pants, shirt,and boots or shoes (not sandles)are mandatory. All airbags and airbag charges must be completely removed from vehicle.

PREPARATIONAll glass, headlights, taillights, chrome, fiberglass header panels, carpeting, antennas, hubcaps, wheel weights, and garbage must be removed from vehicle before competition.

GAS TANKS Factory tanks must be completely removed. Drivers must use small steel tank not to exceed 6-gallon capacity.  Also may use plastic tank or fuel cell ONLY IF ENCLOSED IN STEEL CASE AND PASS INSPECTION. Locate behind driver mounted to floor ONLY. Any leaking tanks or fittings will result in disqualification from competition. Only approved fuel line may be used. Pump gas only.

BATTERIES:  Only 1 or 2 stock type automotive type or 1 larger battery of your choice is permitted. Batteries must be mounted to floor in front passenger section of vehicle. Covered and secure to pass inspection.

DOORS (Full Size Only):  MUST be chained, wired, or welded. Chains or wire may not exceed 36” (three per vertical seam). If welding doors- *4” on 4” off pattern may be used.  Weld MUST NOT exceed 4”. If adding material, MUST NOT exceed 4”x4”x 3/8” thickness. Driver’s door may be welded all the way around for driver’s safety.  If adding material on divers door it MUST NOT exceed 2” wide by 3/8” thickness. Strictly enforced!  All welds must pass official’s inspection. * 4” on 4” off pattern- Weld 4 inches skip 4 inches and so on.

DOORS (Mini Only):  MUST be chained, wired, or welded. Chains or wire may not exceed 36” (one per vertical seam). If welding doors- one weld per vertical seam. Weld MUST NOT exceed 4”. If adding material, one plate per vertical seam and MUST NOT exceed 4”x4”x 3/8” thickness. Driver’s door may be welded all the way around for driver’s safety.  If adding material it MUST NOT exceed 2” wide by 3/8” thickness. Strictly enforced!  All welds must pass official’s inspection.

HOODS:  Your choice of 4 chains, wires, or threaded rods.  If using threaded rods only 2 of the 4 rods used may go to frame or through body bolts in front on core support.  May be bolted or welded vertically to frame (6” welding max), or 3 nuts per rod max and may not exceed 1” in diameter and exceed more than 6” above the hood. Top hood hold down plates may not exceed 6”x6”. When cutting hole(s) in hood you may add up to a max of (10) 3/8" bolts to re-secure webbing. If you choose not to weld threaded rod to the frame you may weld the top seam of the frame from the A-frames forward. Single pass only.

TAILGATES (Full Size Trucks Only):  MUST be chained, wired, or welded. Chains or wire may not exceed 36” (Three per vertical seam). If welding tailgate- *4” on 4” off pattern may be used.  Weld MUST NOT exceed 4”. If adding material, MUST NOT exceed 4”x4”x 3/8” thickness. * 4” on 4” off pattern- Weld 4 inches skip 4 inches and so on.

TAILGATES (Mini Only):  MUST be chained, or wired. Chains or wire may not exceed 36” (two per vertical seam).

WINDSHIELDS:  Must have 2 chains or straps bolted or welded vertically from roof to firewall to protect driver

REAR WINDOW :  All regular cab trucks MUST have some kind of support behind driver’s head to prevent your head from going out the back window.

TIRES:  NO SPLIT RIMS. Height of tire must not exceed 30" for Full Size 28” for Mini. Tires must be properly inflated & may not be bolted to rim.  Outside lugs on aggressive tires “Mud, Snow grips, or Special groove tires” must be trimmed before tire can be used.  Tires must meet with the official’s approval.

BUMPERS:  Bumper and all bumper brackets may be welded (One pass only).  Two Chains or wires MUST go to or around the bumper and be bolted or welded to the frame. Only one wrap per chain may be used. Bumpers MUST match division (i.e. Full Size Trucks on Full Size Trucks, etc.).

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSIONS:  Vertical engine stacks are permitted, but keep below 18” above hood. Engines may be secured with chain by bolting or welding to frame. Do not use chain to reinforce in any way the structure of the vehicle or you will not be allowed to run. Transmission cross members and mounts may be welded in.

RADIATORS:  Factory stock in original position containing water only.  No auxiliary coolers allowed. Steel mesh radiator guard may be used. Guard must not strengthen front of car.

SUSPENSION AND DRIVETRAIN:  Shocks and suspension may not be altered to increase height from factory. Leaf springs must be automotive type.  No spring spacers. On rear-end only you may run chain (one loop), 2 small diameter cables, or 2 #9 wire (6 loops max).  Wire may be twisted axle to frame only. If it is 4-wheel drive front drive shaft MUST be removed.

BODY BOLTS (Full Size only):  Must have at least 4 bolts additional to the factory bolts up to 3/4 inch in size and a minimum of a 4-inch washer holding the box to the frame.

BODY BOLTS (Mini Only):  Must have at least (4)- 1/2” bolts additional to the factory bolts holding the box to the frame.

MISCELLANEOUS RULES:

You may choose the number of choice before you arrive. Place number on both front doors of vehicle. Roof number signs recommended.    Any advertising or decorations will be done in good taste, with no vulgarity allowed. JUDGES DECISIONS WILL BE FINAL IF DETERMINED SOMETHING IS OUTSIDE OF OUR RULES, BUILD ACCORDINGLY.
Inspection and registration closes ½ hour before start of show. Action Auto Promotions, Inc. reserves the right to reject or charge a late fee up to $20 for any vehicle registering after registration is closed.    

OPTIONAL RULES ALLOWED FOR EACH CLASS:

INTERIOR MOUNTED BARS:  You have the choice to have a dash bar, and a rear seat bar. The rear bar must be mounted behind your seat running from doorpost to doorpost horizontally. No kickers off the bar. Mount 3” up or down from the center of the seat. No pipe smaller than 3” in diameter by ¼ thick for either bar. May be welded or bolted in. All welds have to pass inspection. On rear bar you MUST have a safety chain running to down to solid part of floorboard, NOT to frame or boby mount. Dash bar must have safety chain up to firewall, NOT to frame or body mount. Dash bar must be mounted horizontally above the steering column as far forward in compartment as possible. You may also use a drivers door bar mounted on inside of the car from front bar to rear bar. May be welded or bolted in. Should be padded for driver safety. No bar should exceed 6” in diameter.  You are allowed to weld the bottom seam of the doorpost on the inside, but do not add steel.

TRANSMISSION COOLER:  Must be mounted in drivers compartment away from the driver. Must be enclosed in steel case with approved steel or hydraulic lines from transmission to cooler. Any fittings must be located in case and pass inspection.

FENDERS:  You may trim fenders and bolt them. No more than 5 bolts per fender no more than 3/8” in diameter, and must be trimmed flush with nut used.  Do not create a wedge by over tucking your fenders.
